Welcome to my humble website RC Airplane World, an online guide to getting started in the thrilling and addictive hobby of radio control flying.

I started creating RC Airplane World back in 2002, with two intentions in mind – to introduce people to this hobby that has been in my blood for as long as I can remember, and to try and make a little beer money on the side.

Essentially there are three ways this website produces income for me:

  • You seeing adverts.
  • Ebook sales.
  • Amazon affiliate income.

So in the interests of transparency, here is a little explanation of each…

The adverts you see around the site are hosted by Google, and I get a few cents per ad impression – not per click. So, I earn a little money depending on how many ads are published on my site at any given time.

The ebook sales can be split in to two groups – the sales of the two “Beginner’s Guide” ebooks, and some RC helicopter ebooks which I sell as an affiliate of rchelicopterfun.com. The Beginner’s Guide To Flying RC Airplanes was written by myself solely, and the Beginner’s Guide To Flying RC Helicopters was written as a joint venture with John Salt of rchelicopterfun.com. As the author, I receive all the money from sales of those ebooks. As an affiliate of John’s, I receive a percentage of any helicopter books of his I sell through my site. These ebooks can be seen on the Heli e-books page, oddly enough.

Which brings us to the affiliate income. Throughout RC Airplane World you’ll see various product links; links to RC aircraft or accessories that I can recommend to you, or I think are worth having.

All the product links will take you through to Amazon – either Amazon USA or Amazon UK, depending on which country you are in. These links are embedded with my affiliate ID, so if you go ahead and make a purchase having clicked on a product link within my site, I will make a few bucks. Simply put, as an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Does this affect you at all? Absolutely not! Clicking on a product link within my website will make no difference to you whatsoever, and it certainly won’t cost you a single penny! Neither will clicking on an advert within the website.
